I came into the program discouraged about sales and hoping Winfree could help us recruit a salesperson. We decided to first work on the sales strategy and get the sales up before recruiting. After 3 months in the program our sales were up 30% and I had completely changed my attitude about sales. After 6 months we were up 60% and instead of recruiting for sales talent we were recruiting for people to help us take care of our new customers. I began to learn how to look at my business as a CEO instead of as a salesperson or a technician. After 9 months we were up 80% and in a much stronger position to be looking to add to our sales staff.

I started working with Ken at a time when the economy was in a downturn and the construction industry was severely affected. Although our company was continuing to grow in spite of the economy, some of the markets we were in were becoming increasingly more competitive affecting our margins.
I wear many hats for the company including sales and I had never had any formal sales training.
With Ken we set goals to increase our business in the two most profitable markets we were in, one by two times and the other by four times.
We put a plan in place to accomplish this and Ken taught me how to properly qualify my relationships and prospects so I am spending my time on the right opportunities and with the right people. Prior to starting with the Winfree program the firm had experienced a downturn in each of the two core markets we were in. In one, there was a significant decline and we had determined it was a market that represented a good deal of aggravation with little profit. In the other, economic pressures had delayed projects and slowed the flow of leads.
Working with Ken, we set in place a target goal to triple our sales. We developed a marketing strategy and prospecting plan for the one market we wanted to stay in and get into some new markets. I had a first mtg. today w/ a good prospect. This was the first one where I was able to put the full Winfree Black Belt System in motion. End result was phenomenal, but the whole process was what made the end result possible. Much smoother, more organized, more professional, and most importantly I let the client do a lot of the talking. Our role play over the past 2 weeks has really helped. I kept hearing your voice, "let the client talk, ask the questions & let them tell you, don't tell them." Long story short, he came into the meeting saying he was interviewing 3 advisors, & by the end of the meeting he said his interests/goals/personal preference & my style were so closely aligned that he had already decided I was his guy-direct quote, "I really just feel that I can trust you and that you're going to do right by me, so I am choosing you." I could see him almost closing himself as the meeting progressed, so I just let it happen. I almost consciously tried not to close him & I'm pretty sure that had a lot to do with the end result. Great way to start the weekend.

Obviously, in the franchising industry it takes some time to build a pipeline of leads and when I started, there were no leads in my pipeline. However, using the combined techniques and skills I learned from you as well as the Winfree Sales and Marketing program, I was able to build my pipeline rather quickly and within 45 days of taking my new position, closed my first deal. Since then, I have closed 5 more deals and have a verbal commitment for the purchase of a sixth franchise. These are the top 5 points that I have learned from your coaching, that is tough because there is a lot more than 5 things, but here's my best shot at it.
Discipline - Keep a Journal. Without it, it is almost impossible to make adjustments and corrections.
Listen - Talk less, listen more. I am still not perfect, but much better than I used to be. No more free consulting.
Involve The Spouse - You taught me this before we even entered our relationship and it has worked ever since.
Follow A System - Keeps me on track. I know exactly when I am not following my own system and what needs to be done to get back on track.
Validation - Since this is the area where it is easiest to lose control, the S.T.A.R. program has improved our validation tremendously and keeps the potential zee "marching to the beat of my drum, not his/hers."........
